HALLOWEEN TIME at the Disneyland Resorts

Disneyland Halloween Time, with special themed attractions, delicious food, and Disney themed park decorations, is one of the most fun times of year at Disneyland. The entire Disneyland Resort is decorated for Halloween including special park decorations and overlaid attractions with Disneyland Halloween themes. Disney California Adventure park has continued to expand their offerings to provide even more Disneyland Halloween experiences. The decorations in both parks are impressive now that California Adventure has caught up with the Halloween fun. The 2019 Halloween season brought a new party to Disney's California Adventure: Oogie Boogie Bash! Now, there are fantastic offerings in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure park.

When you first enter Disneyland park, huge Disney character pumpkins adorn the turnstiles and greet you as you walk into Disneyland Park. Once you arrive on Main Street USA, you'll see pumpkins and orange bunting adorning every building. It seems that every pumpkin is unique in shape and size. The Main Street decorations are topped off by the huge Mickey Mouse pumpkin that is perfect for photos. All of the lands are decorated with unique odds and ends to celebrate Halloween. Like in Frontierland, you can find The Halloween Tree, dedicated to Ray Bradbury, and in New Orleans Square Mardi Gras decorations adorn the verandas and streetlights lining the little walkways within the square.

For the 2019 Halloween season, all guests visiting Disneyland can see the popular yearly "Halloween Screams" projection and special effects show. During past Halloween seasons in the park, guests required a ticket to the Halloween party at Disneyland to see this special show. Since the Halloween party is taking place at Disney California Adventure this year, all guests visiting Disneyland can see Halloween Screams without having to buy a party ticket. Specific Disneyland Halloween characters are often out for a special holiday meet and greets. Jack Skellington and Sally are often out by the Haunted Mansion. Goofy, Donald, Pluto, Mickey, and Minnie often wear their Halloween costumes the entire day and can be found on Main Street USA by the Grand Opera House. Cruella de Ville has been spotted wandering Main Street USA. You never know which characters you will see wandering the parks, like Dr. Facilier, Maleficent and The Evil Queen. Disneyland Park transforms two popular attractions for Halloween Time, both Space Mountain and the Haunted Mansion are totally decorated and changed over for the Disneyland Halloween season.

The Haunted Mansion becomes the Haunted Mansion Holiday for the Halloween and Disneyland Christmas seasons. This special holiday edition features the story of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and characters from the film including Jack Skellington, Zero and Sally. The attraction is fun regardless of whether you know the story of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” or not. The Haunted Mansion Holiday runs from September thru January and the classic Haunted Mansion attraction comes back from January to September. Usually, Space Mountain becomes Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy during Halloween Time. This overlay is created using new projection effects and a spooky soundtrack onboard the roller coaster. The rides regular feeling of optimistic space exploration transforms to focus on a darker and more menacing theme. Plenty of people come out screaming from this more intense ghost infested space rollercoaster. This year, there was no announcement of the return of Ghost Galaxy for the 2019 Halloween season.

MICKEY'S HALLOWEEN PARTY

This 2019 Halloween season, Mickey's Halloween Party took a year off as Disney California Adventure hosted the Halloween festivities! New for 2019, Oogie Boogie will be your "ghost host" at the Halloween Party at Disney California Adventure. Oogie Boogie Bash took place from Sept. 6 through Oct. 31, 2019. Mickey's Halloween Party takes place at Disneyland and is a special Halloween themed party held in September and October during the Disneyland Halloween season. The event has fun entertainment, attractions, and candy. This is one of the only times guests are allowed to wear Halloween costumes inside Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort. The party typically run from 6pm until12pm.

Guests need to purchase a ticket to the Halloween party to enter the park up to three hours before the party begins. At the time of the party, every non-Halloween party guest who doesn't have a wristband will be ushered out of the park.

The Disneyland Mickey's Halloween Party event centers on special entertainment fireworks and a character cavalcade, The main draw for the event is the popular Halloween-Screams fireworks and the Halloween parade. Guests also have the various Halloween trick-or-treat trails located throughout Disneyland to enjoy, providing Disneyland guests the opportunity to receive huge amounts of candy.

In Disney California Adventure park, Buena Vista Street and the entrance has Halloween decor inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas film. Oogie Boogie has taken over Disney California Adventure as his oversized silhouette beckons guests down the street. The Headless Horseman sits at the end of Buena Vista Street at the corner of Buena Vista and Hollywood Land. This serves as a great photo spot for your Halloween pics. Some not-to-miss events at Disney California Adventure is the special showing of World of Color - Villainous, DescenDANCE dance party in Hollywood Land, Mickey's Trick or Treat show for the kids at the Disney Junior Party Theatre and Villains Grove, in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. These events are only available at the Oogie Boogie Bash.

You can find more entertainment options like Plaza de la Familia in the Paradise Gardens Park, which celebrates Día de los Muertos including a festive experience from the film “Coco." You can also find plenty of characters, like your favorites, the Fab Five wearing their Halloween costumes ready to do meet and greets. Make sure you're using the Disneyland app to track down your favorites.

Over in Cars Land, Halloween has taken over as well. Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree replaces Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters will change into Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween. Cars Land celebrates “Haul-O-Ween” with awesome overlays and decorations everywhere. From “Fillmore’s Jack-Oil Lanterns and Flo’s Spider-Car to Witchy Miss Lizzie’s shop." Each and every location will transform Radiator Springs into Radiator Screams.

Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout becomes Guardians of the Galaxy Monsters After Dark starting at 6 pm everyday. This special Halloween version of the attraction is a scarier version that does not include the popular song soundtrack of the regular version of the attraction.

HALLOWEEN FOOD AND SNACKS

Just like the decorations and ride overlays, the snack offerings during the Halloween season are transformed. The culinary team tries to out-do themselves every year as they create new sweet and savory treats to be sold throughout the resort inspired by beloved characters, stories and even famous Disney villains. During Halloween at the Disneyland Resort, Halloween-themed food and drinks are a part of the spooky fun.

HAPPIEST HAUNTS TOUR

During Halloween Time at Disneyland, a specific “Happiest Haunts Tour” is held that focuses around the specific Halloween attractions and story of certain Halloween elements in the park. Last year, the tour centered around a Halloween quest to find Aladdin's missing magic lamp. Over the course of the search, the tour guide took guests on six attractions throughout the entire park. Tour benefits can change year to year, but in the past these Halloween tours have included front of the line access to the two Halloween themed attractions, plus some of the other top attractions throughout the park. HALLOWEEN TIME AT THE DISNEYLAND RESORT HOTELS

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will feature a large candy/cookie/sugar sculpture of Oogie Boogie in the lobby in addition to a Halloween holiday cart full of sweets for guests to enjoy. A 3-D Ursula will be at the lobby, of Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel while Disneyland Hotel will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion with themed decor and a themed Tea Party at Steakhouse 55 in the lobby of the hotel for an additional price. Guests of all three hotels will enjoy special trick-or-treat festivities on select dates in addition to the other benefits of staying at Disneyland Resort Hotels.
