CHARACTER CORNER: Sebastian the Crab


Sebastian the Crab is a fictional character from Disney's animated film "The Little Mermaid," which was released in 1989. His full name is Horatio Thelonious Ignacious Crustaceous Sebastian and he is a red Jamaican crab who serves as the court composer for King Triton, who is Ariel's father. Sebastian is known for his distinctive accent and is a key supporting character in the film.


Sebastian is assigned the task of keeping an eye on Ariel, the rebellious and curious mermaid princess, by King Triton. Throughout the movie, Sebastian finds himself involved in various adventures with Ariel and her friends, Flounder the fish and Scuttle the seagull. One of the most memorable scenes featuring Sebastian is the musical number "Under the Sea," where he sings about the vibrant and lively underwater world.





Sebastian also appears in the direct-to-video sequel "The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea" and the television series "The Little Mermaid: The Animated Series." His character is often associated with humor and a love for music, adding entertainment value to the story.
